St Edmund The Martyr
841 – 869
St. Edmund the Martyr was a beloved King of East Anglia whose life and sacrifice continue to inspire Christian devotion.
Born around 841, he ascended the throne at just 14 years old in 855 and quickly earned a reputation for fairness, mercy, and unwavering piety. During the tumultuous period of Viking invasions, Edmund stood firm in his faith, refusing to renounce Christ or compromise his kingdom to pagan demands. Captured by the invading Danes, he endured brutal torture. Being bound to a tree, struck, pierced by arrows, and ultimately beheaded on November 20, 869 (or 870). Choosing martyrdom over renunciation of his beliefs.
His courageous witness and steadfast commitment to the Gospel established him as a revered saint across the Christian world. In the years following his death, Edmund’s remains were translated to what is now Bury St Edmunds, where his shrine became a celebrated pilgrimage site and helped shape the town’s identity. Today, St. Edmund stands as a powerful symbol of integrity and divine courage. An enduring example of a life devoted to Christ in the face of overwhelming adversity.

Our CHURCH
The Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God; begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; and was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried; and arose again on the third day according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. In one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
We are under the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
